This year’s grants are awarded in honor of SEF Board Member, Mrs. Mary Henry, who celebrated her 100th birthday.
Program Focus
Grants will be awarded to educators in grades pre-k through 12 for innovative activities that will improve and enhance the quality of education for students in Seattle Public Schools.
Level of Funds Available
Seattle Education Foundation will award two types of grants to non-supervisory, certificated staff. 1) up to $3,000 to individuals
2) up to $10,000 to collaborative proposals from grade level, cross grade level, interdisciplinary, single discipline or other types of teams
Grant Proposal Outline
The application (PDF format) should contain the following information in the order indicated (not to exceed 2 type-written pages). Please number each section (1-10).

Grants will be awarded for 2024-2025 school year.

No salaries, benefits, travel or conference fees for certificated or other district staff are to be paid from the funds. Personal service contracts are permitted.

Application may not exceed 2 type-written pages. Please do not provide attachments or appendices that would exceed the 2-page limit.

Multiple submissions of the same proposal from different teachers at a school will not be considered.

Grants will be awarded by June 15, 2024 and will be deposited into the schools’ grant cost centers by Sept. 1, 2024. Funds must be expended by June 30, 2025.

NEW: The grantee will submit a brief evaluation of the funded project to the SEF website by July 15, 2025 addressing the following questions: a) What did you do? b) What difference did it make?

Should the certificated non-supervisory person who receives the grant change schools or positions, the SEF Board will determine the disposition of the funds in concert with the grantee and principal.
Evaluation Criteria

NEED – nature and intensity of the problem or challenge

CREATIVITY – innovative aspects of the proposed program

REALISTIC BUDGET – appropriate to activities
-
MEASUREABLE GOALS --clear statement of anticipated change in student performance

SUSTAINABILITY – program is to continue after funding is completed
The probability of being funded will be influenced by the more creative, innovative and imaginative you are with your application and the greater number of students impacted by the project.
